The city of Termez, the Republic of Uzbekistan successfully hosted the 13th International Al Khakim At Temerziy International Kurash Tournament for the Prize of Uzbekistan’s President.
The competition was organized and held by the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, the Governor office of the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, the Committee for physical education and sport of Uzbekistan under the auspice of the International Kurash Association.
This is the oldest International Kurash tournament, which was first organized in Uzbekistan back in 1992 and since then is held once in every two years.
The competition held this year gathered more than two hundred people from 44 countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and Pan America.
The prize money fund for the winners in three different categories equaled to 56 000 US Dollars, with the winner in open weight category earning 25 000 US Dollars.
The prize money distribution in three weights was as follows:
Open weight category
The 1st place — 25 000 US dollars (the Uzbekistan’s President Prize)
The 2nd place — 10 000 US dollars
The 3rd place — 2 500 US dollars (two people)
The 5th place — 1 000 US dollars (four people — eliminated in the quarter finals)
The 1st place — 25 000 US dollars (the Uzbekistan’s President Prize)
The 2nd place — 10 000 US dollars
The 3rd place — 2 500 US dollars (two people)
The 5th place — 1 000 US dollars (four people — eliminated in the quarter finals)
Under 73 kg and 90 kg weight categories (for each weight category):
The 1st place — 3 000 USD
The 2nd place — 1 500 US dollars
The 3rd place — 750 US dollars (two people)

One day before the competition, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan hosted the Extraordinary Congress of the International Kurash Association. The participants of the meeting discussed various matters of Kurash promotion in the world. The Congress also elected Mr. Komil Yusupov, the author of the International Kurash Rules and the ex-president of the IKA to the newly created position of the IKA Chairman-Founder of modern Kurash; Mr. Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodjaev from Uzbekistan to the position of the IKA Vice President of general matters.
