Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.- En lo que es una verdadera tradición año tras año la Federación Dominicana de Kurash, Fedokurash, celebra el Dia Nacional de esta disciplina de origen uzbeko y de gran expansión a nivel mundial.

Para la ocasión las diferentes asociaciones que componen la entidad incorporada realizan intercambios, clínicas de arbitraje, exhibición de afiches, caminatas, concursos de pintura con el tema

kurash y sus orígenes de hace más de 3500 años, charlas para captación de nuevos practicantes en escuelas y colegios, reconocimientos, en fin, todo lo que resalta esta disciplina que es considerada la Madre de todas las Artes Marciales.

El kurash entro al mundo deportivo internacional a partir del 6 de septiembre 1998 cuando en Tashkent, Uzbekistán se fundó la International Kurash Association (IKA) la que desde entonces rige esta disciplina y que ya se practica en mas de 120 paises de los cinco continentes.

La Federación Dominicana de Kurash está presidida por el profesor Israel Caraballo Jiménez entidad que tiene como organismos superiores a la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK) la que preside Jaime Casanova Martínez y la International Kurash Association (IKA) cuyo principal ejecutivo lo es el ciudadano kuwaití de nombre Haider Farman.

La llegada a República Dominicana data del 1999 teniendo hasta la fecha y en orden cronológico a Jaime Casanova Martínez, Elpidio Pimentel Castro, Alquímedes Ortiz Cruz e Israel Agustín Caraballo Jiménez como presidentes de referencia.

"Existe un gran entusiasmo por la celebración de los diferentes actos en este Dia Nacional del Kurash en la República Dominicana de parte de las asociaciones afiliadas y que contarán con el total apoyo de la Fedokurash", dijo el profesor Israel Caraballo Jiménez, presidente de la entidad federada nacional al anunciar las actividades indicadas.

Kurash entered the international sports world on September 6, 1998 when the International Kurash Association (IKA) was founded in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, which has since governed this discipline and is already practiced in 120 countries on five continents. .
