PLEASE TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT YOUR SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN SPORT?
I am President of the Pan American Kurash Union (UPK) and Vice President of the International Kurash Association (IKA) representing the American continent.
WHERE ARE YOU BIASED?
My country is the Dominican Republic and the headquarters of the Pan American Kurash Union (UPK) is in the Dominican capital Santo Domingo.
WHAT IS THE KURASH OPERATING SYSTEM IN YOUR COUNTRY LIKE? As far as I know, KURASH IS NOT A FEDERATION. HOW TO OPERATE ALONE OR WITH OTHER SPORTS?

Kurash is a National Federation recognized by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC).
The Dominican sports system is based on associations that affiliate with the National Federations.
The Dominican Kurash Federation (FEDOKURASH) already has 15 provincial associations affiliated with a total of 32.
Being a national federation recognized by the Ministry of Sports, we already officially participate in the 2018 National Games and 2019 School Games.
Every year the Fedokurash organizes the Pan American Kurash Championships for women and men in the Dominican Republic.

The president of the Dominican Kurash Federation is Professor Israel Caraballo Jiménez.

In the Pan American Kurash Championships, female and male, held in the city of San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, the final positions for accumulating medals were as follows:
1.- Dominican Republic.
2.- Chile
3.- Costa Rica
4.- Haiti

ARE YOU MORE INTERESTED IN TRAINING, ARBITRATION OR MANAGEMENT?
At this stage we need the support in the three vital areas of training, refereeing and management to continue consolidating Kurash in the Dominican Republic as the center of that discipline in America.
SIR. CASANOVA AS PRESIDENT OF PANAMERICA HAS OBTAINED THE IKA AWARD FOR THE BEST CONTINENT 2 TIMES, WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THAT?
Based on the strengthening of the Kurash in the Dominican Republic, this has allowed us and facilitated the expansion of this ancient martial art in various countries such as Chile, Haiti, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Bolivia, United States, and Nicaragua.
Other countries that are practicing or advanced in kurash are Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.
We are in contact with Guyana, Mexico, Cuba, among other countries to introduce the Kurash.
The consolidation of the Kurash throughout America to be the option for inclusion in the different Multidisciplinary Games requires vital support from the IKA in terms of uniforms, combat areas, coaches and qualified referees to make visits to different countries and introduce and raise the technical level of the discipline without neglecting the financial support for the realization of the Pan American Championships of the discipline.
We are at the right time to make the Kurash a sport option in the vast majority of countries throughout the Americas.

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR KURASH IN YOUR COUNTRY?
Kurash in the Dominican Republic already has wide recognition in the sports sector of the country and it is demonstrated that more and more we are integrated into the different massive events and that the constant practice in the different associations attracts more followers.
An essential point is that in various associations practitioners do not know of any martial art other than Kurash.
Dominican Republic and the other countries have difficulty being affiliated to the different National Olympic Committees since the same ones that have the IKA are recognized by the International Olympic Committee and SportAccord; must work hard to make that a reality in the short term.
FINALLY, HOW IS CORONA AFFECTING KURASH NOW IN YOUR COUNTRY?
Dominican Republic, like the vast majority of the countries of America, we are in the stage of confinement due to Covid-19 and this has forced the paralysis of the kurash.
When the pandemic subsides or disappears, we will reschedule the calendar activities following the instructions of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sports.

Soy presidente de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK) y Vicepresidente de la Asociación Internacional de Kurash (IKA) representando al continente americano.
¿DÓNDE ESTÁN TUS BASES?
Mi país es República Dominicana y la sede de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK) esta en la capital dominicana Santo Domingo.
¿CÓMO ES EL SISTEMA DE OPERACIÓN KURASH EN SU PAÍS? Hasta donde yo sé, KURASH NO ES FEDERACIÓN. ¿CÓMO OPERAR SOLO O CON OTROS DEPORTES?
Kurash es una Federación Nacional reconocida por el Ministerio de Deportes y Recreación (MIDEREC).
El sistema deportivo dominicano se fundamenta en asociaciones que se afilian a las Federaciones Nacionales.
La Federación Dominicana de Kurash (FEDOKURASH) ya tiene afiliadas a 15 asociaciones provinciales de un total de 32.

Siendo una federación nacional reconocida por el Ministerio de Deportes ya participamos de manera oficial en los Juegos Nacionales 2018 y Juegos Escolares 2019.
Todos los años la Fedokurash organiza los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash, femenino y masculino en la República Dominicana.
¿QUIÉN ESTÁ AHORA A CARGO DE ASUNTOS KURASH AHORA EN SU PAÍS?
El presidente de la Federación Dominicana de Kurash es el profesor Israel Caraballo Jiménez.
QUÉ ACTIVIDADES TENÍAS EN 2019-2020

DÍGAME LOS ÚLTIMOS RESULTADOS QUE OBTUVO SU PAÍS DURANTE LOS CAMPEONATOS CONTINENTALES O MUNDIALES?
En los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash, femenino y masculino, realizados en la ciudad de San Cristóbal, República Dominicana, las posiciones finales por acumulación de medallas fue como sigue:
1.- República Dominicana.
2.- Chile
3.- Costa Rica
4.- Haití
5.- Venezuela
6.- Estados Unidos
¿ESTÁS MÁS INTERESADO EN ENTRENAMIENTO, ARBITRAJE O GESTIÓN?
En esta etapa necesitamos el apoyo en las tres áreas vitales de entrenamiento, arbitraje y gestión para seguir consolidando el Kurash en la República Dominicana como centro de esa disciplina en América.
SEÑOR. CASANOVA COMO PRESIDENTE DE PANAMERICA HA OBTENIDO 2 VECES EL PREMIO IKA AL MEJOR CONTINENTE, ¿CUÁL ES LA RAZÓN DE ESO?
Con base en el fortalecimiento del Kurash en la República Dominicana eso nos ha permitido y facilitado expandir este ancestral arte marcial en varios países como Chile, Haití, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Bolivia, Estados Unidos y Nicaragua.
Otros países que están practicando o avanzados en el kurash son Paraguay, Uruguay, Brasil, Panamá, El Salvador, Honduras y Guatemala.
Estamos en contacto con Guyana, México, Cuba, entre otros países para introducir el Kurash.
La consolidación del Kurash en toda América para ser la opción de inclusión en los diferentes Juegos Multidisciplinarios requiere un soporte vital de la IKA en cuanto a uniformes, áreas de combate, entrenadores y árbitros calificados para realizar visitas a los diferentes países e introducir y elevar el nivel técnico de la disciplina sin dejar de lado el soporte económico para la realización de los Campeonatos Panamericanos de la disciplina.
Estamos en el momento adecuado para hacer realidad que el Kurash sea una opción deportiva en la gran mayoría de países de toda América.
¿CUÁL ES SU VISIÓN PARA KURASH EN SU PAÍS?
Kurash en República Dominicana ya tiene un amplio reconocimiento en el sector deportivo del país y se demuestra porque cada vez más somos integrados a los diferentes eventos masivos ademas que la práctica constante en las diferentes asociaciones atrae mas adeptos.
Un punto esencial es que en varias asociaciones los practicantes no conocen otro arte marcial que no sea sea el Kurash.
República Dominicana y los demás países tienen dificultad para ser afiliados a los diferentes Comités Olímpicos Nacionales ya que los mismos que tienen la IKA sea reconocida por el Comité Olímpico Internacional y SportAccord; debe trabajarse fuertemente para que eso sea una realidad a corto plazo.
FINALMENTE, ¿CÓMO ESTÁ CORONA AFECTANDO A KURASH AHORA EN SU PAÍS?
República Dominicana al igual que la gran mayoría de los países de América estamos en la etapa del confinamiento por causa del Covid-19 y esto ha obligado a paralizar las actividades del kurash.
Cuando la pandemia ceda o desaparezca vamos a reprogramar las actividades calendario siguiendo las instrucciones del Ministerio de Salud y el de Deportes.
