IKA delegation meets the IOC Vice-President
On April 18, 2013 in Singapore the IKA delegation had an official meeting with Mr Ser Miang NG, the IOC Vice-President. 

Mr Ser Miang NG is one of the most influential figures in the International Olympic Committee; he was elected as the IOC member in 1998, from 2005 to 2009 he served as the IOC Executive Board member and since 2009 he occupies the position of the IOC Vice-President. 

He also served for more than ten years as the President of the Singapore Sports Council and was the President of the Organizing Committee of the First Youth Olympic Games held in 2010 in Singapore. 



During the meeting which was held at the Singapore Sports Council building, Mr. Komil Yusupov, the IKA President briefed the IOC Vice-President about the history and modern development of Kurash and the IKA. He also touched upon the relations with the IOC, in particular the exhibition "Finding roots of sport" which was organized at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne in 2005 with the big section dedicated to Kurash, and the institute of Honorary Presidents in the IKA, whereas the IKA's Honorary President is the President of Uzbekistan His Excellency Mr. Islam Karimov and the Honorary Presidents of the Continental Kurash Unions of Asia, Africa, Pan America and Europe are the Presidents of respective Continental Olympic Committees. 



The IOC Vice-President praised the IKA for the efforts to promote Kurash and sport in general. He also complimented the progress of the IKA in worldwide promotion of Kurash achieved in such a short period. 

He expressed his support to further promotion of Kurash in the world. Mr. NG underlined that Kurash would strengthen the position of Asia in the world and Olympic sport movement. 



The IOC Vice-President also said that there was no such a structure in the world sport federations where the four continental Olympic Presidents would occupy the Honorary President positions of the continental unions. He added that this structure should help IKA achieve its main objective - inclusion to the program of Olympics. 



Mr. NG also said he had heard a lot about Kurash, but never saw it in action, and thanks to this meeting organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore he was able to meet the head of such a respecred international sport organization and would be very interested to see live Kurash competition in its motherland Uzbekistan or in another location.
