The Restoration Day (La Día de la Restauración) is a national holiday in the Dominican Republic that commemorates the commencement of the two-year-long war against the Spanish Colonial Army (on August 16, 1863) that won the Dominican Republic its independence from Spain (in 1865).
The National Cup competition was held among children, juniors and seniors in male and female categories. The event was organized by the local Kurash entity under the auspice of the Dominican Kurash Federation.
The President of the Dominican Kurash Federation Dr. Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz who also holds the international A refereeing license in Kurash before the start of the competition held a refereeing seminar for attendees from the Dominican provinces of Barahona, San Cristobal, Azua and the National District.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Pan American Kurash Union Mr. Jaime Casanova Martinez.
