Pan America holds continental championships

dcist2013 - CopyThe Pan American Kurash Union in cooperation with the Dominican Republic Kurash Federation successfully held the Pan American continental Kurash Championships among seniors from 12 t0 14 December 2014.
This continental event held among both male and female senior Kurash players was held in the resort town of Boca Chica near the capital of the Dominican Republic – Santo Domingo.
The Pan American Kurash Union established in 2001, was one of the first continental unions affiliated to the IKA which started holding its own continental championships. The first Pan American continental championship among seniors was held in 2002 in La Paz, the capital city of Bolivia.
This year’s event held in the Dominican Republic gathered strong Kurash players from around Pan American continent competing for the continental champion title in different weight categories among both men and women, with players from the Dominican Republic, Chile and Nicaragua dominating the overall medal count.
The Pan American Kurash Union also held its annual meeting during the championship with delegates mainly concentrating on discussion and drafting the calendar of the Pan American Kurash Union activities and competitions for 2015.
