The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the XVIII Asiad, will be the 18th edition of a regional multi-sport event in Asia. It is to be hosted by Indonesia and is scheduled to take place from August 18 – September 2, 2018.
This will be the second time that Jakarta has hosted the Asian Games, the first being the 1962 Asian Games. For the first time in the Asian Games history, two cities will be the main hosts the Games: Jakarta, the national capital city, and Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra province.
Indonesia was approved as the host of the Games by Olympic Council of Asia executive board on September 19, 2014.
They will host the Games in 2018 rather than the originally planned 2019 to avoid conflict with the Indonesian presidential election.

Los Juegos Asiáticos de 2018, conocido oficialmente como la XVIII Asiada, será la 18ª edición de un evento deportivo regional en Asia. Es organizado por Indonesia y se llevarán a cabo del 18 de agosto – 02 de septiembre de 2018.
Esta será la segunda vez que Jakarta ha sido anfitrión de los Juegos Asiáticos, siendo la primera los juegos asiáticos de 1962. Por primera vez en la historia de los juegos asiáticos, dos ciudades serán los principales anfitriones de los juegos: Jakarta, la ciudad capital nacional y Palembang, en la provincia de la ciudad capital de Sumatra del sur.
Indonesia fue aprobada como sede de los juegos por Junta Ejecutiva Consejo Olímpico de Asia el 19 de septiembre de 2014.
