The official opening ceremony of the Asian Games began with the appearance of athletes from all participating countries at the stadium "Gloria Bung Karno", which was attended by 80,000 spectators. The anthem of the Asian Games was performed, and the flag of the XVIII Asian Games was raised. Athletes and judges took the oath. For the Games to be successful, the torch was lit, as a symbol of peace, harmony and prosperity between peoples.
On August 19, the 37th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia was held.

During the summit, the presentation of the Asian Games was held, which will be held in 2022 in Hangzhou, China, and in 2026 - in Ari-Nagoya in Japan. It was also said about the preparations for the Summer Olympics-2020 in Tokyo and the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022.
In addition, the city was named the city where the Asian Games will be held in 2020.
In the Chinese city of Sanya, the following Asian Beach Games will be held.
