Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- Los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash, femenino y masculino, fueron realizados del 1 al 4 de mayo 2004 en la ciudad de Santo Domingo oportunidad donde nos visito el entonces presidente de la International Kurash Association (IKA) el señor Komil Yusupov siendo recibido por los licenciados Luis Mejia Oviedo, presidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano (COD) y Cesar Cedeño, Secretario de Estado de Deportes y Recreacion (Sedefir).
Producto de la realizacion de ese evento panamericano para el año 2006 el kurash fue presentado como deporte de exhibicion durante los XIII Juegos Deportivos Nacionales realizados en la provincia de Monte Plata y varias subsedes contandose entre ellas Bayaguana donde se desarrollaron los combates de nuestra disciplina siendo Secretario Estado de Deportes y Recreacion el señor Felipe (Jay) Payano.
Es tambien en el 2006 cuando del 17 al 21 de octubre presentamos el IV Campeonato Mundial de Kurash Juvenil, femenino y masculino, con la participacion de mas de 50 paises de los cinco continentes, excelente organización y donde estuvimos representados por Katy Olivares, Merys Mejia, Maria Garcia Caceres, Enidania Espaillat, Gladys Juan, Yahaira Reinoso, Lwilli Santana, Juan Calderon, Amaury Jimenez, Manuel Perez, Gregory Marte, Jose Gomez e Ivan Paulino.
Los atletas dominicanos han demostrado su calidad en varios eventos internacionales de Kurash realizados en Uzbekistan, Grecia, Turquia, Armenia, Bolivia, Georgia, India y Brasil, entre otros. Precisamente en 2023 compitiendo en Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, la atleta Audrey Puello se corono como Campeona Mundial.
El Día Nacional del Kurash, cada 23 de febrero, se enmarca dentro de las actividades de la Semana Nacional del Kurash donde se realizan exhibiciones, charlas, competencias, caminatas, cursos de capacitacion, entre otras importantes actividades de la disciplina oriunda de la Republica de Uzbekistan y de mas de 3500 años de existencia.
Desde 1998 hasta la fecha la Fedokurash ha tenido varios presidentes donde Jaime Casanova Martinez, Elpidio Pimentel Castro, Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz e Israel Caraballo Jimenez, han dirigido la entidad nacional hasta 2025.

En la actualidad el Kurash esta enmarcado en la carrera por lograr una posición dentro del Programa Olímpico donde la International Kurash Association (IKA) desempeña un activo programa de promocion de la disciplina deportiva con cursos y seminarios; campeonatos mundiales y presencia constante en todos los foros internacionales de la mano de su presidente el ciudadano kuwaiti Haider Farman.
Hoy dia la Federacion Dominicana de Kurash, Fedokurash, realiza el montaje, año tras año y desde 2015, la Semana Panamericana de Kurash con Cursos y Seminarios en Entrenamiento y Arbitraje; Congresos, Campeonatos Panamericanos en infantil, juvenil y senior; y Torneos de Kurash Playa, eventos que tienen una gran participacion de los paises afiliados a la Union Panamericana de Kurash (UPK).

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - The Panamerican Kurash Championships, both men's and women's, were held from May 1st to 4th, 2004, in Santo Domingo. Komil Yusupov, then president of the International Kurash Association (IKA), visited us. We were received by Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), and Cesar Cedeño, Secretary of State for Sports and Recreation (Sedefir).
As a result of this Pan American event in 2006, kurash was presented as an exhibition sport during the XIII National Sports Games held in the province of Monte Plata and several sub-venues, including Bayaguana, where the competitions for our discipline took place. Felipe (Jay) Payano served as Secretary of State for Sports and Recreation.
It was also in 2006 that we presented the IV World Junior Kurash Championship, both men and women, from October 17th to 21st. It was well-organized, with participation from more than 50 countries from five continents. We were represented by Katy Olivares, Merys Mejia, Maria Garcia Caceres, Enidania Espaillat, Gladys Juan, Yahaira Reinoso, Lwilli Santana, Juan Calderon, Amaury Jimenez, Manuel Perez, Gregory Marte, Jose Gomez, and Ivan Paulino.

National Kurash Day, held every February 23rd, is part of the National Kurash Week activities, which include exhibitions, talks, competitions, walks, training courses, and other important activities dedicated to this sport, native to the Republic of Uzbekistan and with over 3,500 years of existence.
