On September 25, 2016 the resort city Danang in Vietnam hosted the first competition day of the Beach Kurash event in the program of the 5th Asian Beach Games.
The Asian Beach Games are the multi-sport event held by the Olympic Council of Asia once in every two years for the sports which are practiced on sand.
This is the second time Kurash participates as the official sport in the competition program of the Asian Beach Games.
Kurash as the sport was recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia in 2003 and since then was a part of the Asian Games 2006 in Qatar, the Asian Indoor Games 2007 in Macau, the Asian Indoor Games 2009 in Vietnam, the Asian Martial Arts Games 2009 in Thailand, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2013 in Korea, and the Asian Beach Games 2014 in Thailand.
Kurash as an official sport is also included to the programs of the Asian Summer Games 2018 in Indonesia and Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017 in Turkmenistan.
