Que es el Kurash. Una entrevista al Ing. Jaime Casanova. Introdujo la práctica del Kurash en el país, practicándose por primera vez en el 1999. Actualmente es el presidente de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK) y vicepresidente de la International Kurash Association (IKA).El Sr. Jaime Casanova es un activo dirigente deportivo dominicano de ascendencia española, con una gran experiencia en el área de las Artes Marciales. Es presidente de la Federación Mundial de Judo (WJF), Fue Vice-presidente de la Federación Internacional del Judo (IJF), Presidente de la Unión Panamericana del Judo (UPJ) y Presidente de la Federación Dominicana de Judo (FEDOJUDO) por varios periodos, se desempeña como asesor de otras federaciones deportivas. El Kurash es un deporte de defensa personal, que promueve la disciplina y el esfuerzo personal, ingredientes muy importantes en el proceso de desarrollo barrial. Es un deporte nuevo en nuestro país, a pesar de que su historia es milenaria, se está practicando en muchas provincias de la geografía dominicana y cada vez crece más. Jaime Casanovas ha representado y llevado el deporte dominicano por muchos países, trabajando incansablemente en pro de la infancia y la juventud dominicana, es un gran amante de la Paz y defensor del Medio Ambiente. Es uno de nuestros grandes dirigentes deportivos y un héroe del deporte dominicano.
Ing. Jaime Casanova, nuestra pregunta es: Que es el Kurash?
Es una disciplina que nació como Arte Marcial hace más de 3500 años en la República de Uzbekistán y que es considerada como la Madre de todas las Artes Marciales. Hoy día es un deporte a nivel mundial con la entidad rectora la International Kurash Asociación (IKA).Kurash es un deporte noble con un mínimo de riesgo de lesiones durante las prácticas muy aceptado para niños, jóvenes y mayores a la vez que la tercera edad está muy presente con amplia expansión comunitaria.
Desde que fecha se practica Kurash, en la Republica Dominicana ?.
Próximos eventos a realizarse en el país.
Háblenos un poco de los próximos eventos que se celebraran en la Republica Dominicana. de diciembre 2022 tendremos en el país Seminarios de Arbitraje y Entrenamiento, así mismo, Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa y los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash. Se ha incluido una exposición de Pinturas con el tema Kurash a cargo del artista plástico y dirigente deportivo Juan Eligió Barcelo.
Proyecciones del Kurash.
A nivel nacional la meta es llevar esta disciplina a todas las provincias, escuelas e instituciones de formación para inculcar los valores del kurash de honestidad, disciplina, amistad, tenacidad y compañerismo, entre otras.
En el área regional lograr llevar el kurash a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, Juegos Bolivarianos y Juegos Suramericanos, entre otros.
En lo referente al continente incluirlos en los Juegos Panamericanos para seguirle los pasos al Consejo Olímpico de Asia (OCA) donde está disciplina tiene una participación oficial en los Juegos Asiáticos.
Esa conjunción de esfuerzos a de llevar a la participación en los Juegos Olímpicos para lo que la International Kurash Association (IKA) trabaja incansablemente con un plan específico dirigido por expertos bajo la dirección del presidente de la IKA, Haider Farman, y la sombrilla del Gobierno de Uzbekistán.
Requerimientos para el desarrollo del Kurash en la Republica Dominicana.
Largos años hemos solicitado al Ministerio de Deportes y Recreacion (MIDEREC) cubrir diferentes necesidades para el desarrollo amplio de esta disciplina, como son;- Local de prácticas debidamente equipado y con sus respectivas oficinas.
– Entrega de equipamiento, indumentarias, uniformes de practica y colchones oficiales
– Nombramiento de Monitores en cada una de las 15 provincias donde hasta ahora el kurash tiene asociaciones.
– Inclusión y protección de atletas en el Programa PARNI.
– Asignación económica mensual fija que permita a la Federación Dominicana de Kurash (Fedokurash) la realización de sus respectivas actividades calendario.
– Apoyo a las actividades internacionales como son los Campeonatos Mundiales, entre otros.
– Apoyo a las actividades de exhibiciones, concursos de pintura, caminatas, charlas para captación de nuevos miembros, etc.

It is a discipline that was born as a Martial Art more than 3,500 years ago in the Republic of Uzbekistan and is considered the Mother of all Martial Arts. Today it is a world-class sport with the International Kurash Association (IKA) as its governing entity. Kurash is a noble sport with a minimum risk of injury during practices, very accepted for children, young people and adults as well as the elderly. It is very present with wide community expansion.
Since when is Kurash practiced in the Dominican Republic?
Discipline began its practice in the Dominican Republic in 1999 and having held several Pan American Championships in the country and a Junior World Championship in 2006. I am currently president of the Pan American Kurash Union (UPK) and vice president of the International Kurash Association (IKA)
Upcoming events to be held in the country.
Tell us a little about the upcoming events that will be held in the Dominican Republic. From December 2022 we will have Refereeing and Training Seminars in the country, as well as the International Beach Kurash Tournament and the Pan-American Kurash Championships. An exhibition of paintings with the Kurash theme by the plastic artist and sports leader Juan Eligió Barcelo has been included.
Kurash projections.
From being an exhibition event at the 2006 Monte Plata National Games, an official event at the Hermanas Mirabal National Games in 2018, an exhibition event at the Monte Plata 2019 School Games and an exhibition event at the University Games in 2022, we have yet to consolidate the remaining associations in the country to exceed the 15 already existing, emphasize training as a vital tool while continuing to hold events for children, youth and adults for both women and men.
At the national level, the goal is to bring this discipline to all provinces, schools and training institutions to instill the kurash values of honesty, discipline, friendship, tenacity and camaraderie, among others.
In the regional area, manage to take the kurash to the Central American and Caribbean Games, Bolivarian Games and South American Games, among others.
Regarding the continent, include them in the Pan American Games to follow in the footsteps of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) where this discipline has an official participation in the Asian Games.

Requirements for the development of Kurash in the Dominican Republic.

– Delivery of equipment, clothing, practice uniforms and official mattresses
– Appointment of Monitors in each of the 15 provinces where until now the kurash have associations.
– Inclusion and protection of athletes in the PARNI Program.
– Fixed monthly economic allocation that allows the Dominican Federation of Kurash (Fedokurash) to carry out their respective calendar activities.
– Support for international activities such as the World Championships, among others.
– Support for exhibition activities, painting contests, walks, talks to recruit new members, etc.
