Federación Dominicana de Kurash (Fedokurash): Fedokurash en la Gala Centenaria de Centro Caribe Sports / Fedokurash at the Centro Caribe Sports Centennial Gala

Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- Centro Caribe Sports (CCS), realizó su Gala Centenaria, 1936 - 2026, en un importante hotel de esta ciudad donde asistieron representantes de los 37 Comités Olímpicos Nacionales que componen el organismo regional, así mismo, autoridades nacionales e internacionales del mundo deportivo en una noche que contó con la presencia del licenciado Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona y su distinguida esposa doña Raquel Arbaje, quienes engalanaron la noche.

Las principales autoridades deportivas del país dijeron presente en la actividad contándose entre ellas el ministro de Deportes y Recreación, Kelvin Cruz Caceres; José Monegro, presidente del Comité Organizador de los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, el presidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano el ingeniero Garibaldy Bautista; Donisio Guzman, presidente del Pabellon de la Fama de la Republica Dominicana, entre otros.

La entrada puntual del presidente Abinader y luego de impartir saludos, fotos y breves conversaciones

con varios de los presentes inicio la actividad con la conducción de la excelsa presentadora Natacha Peña para seguidamente presentar un documental, del agrado de los presentes, sobre las diferentes versiones de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.
Acto seguido la secretaria de Centro Caribe Sports, Sara Rosario, tomo la palabra a nombre de la

institución, anteriormente Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe (Odecabe), para resaltar la vida deportiva de esta centenaria organización.
Luego el turno fue para José Monegro en su calidad de presidente del Comité Organizador de los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe a realizarse del 24 de julio al 8 de agosto 2026, para significativamente darle la bienvenida al país a las delegaciones participante, personalidades e invitados especiales.

Internacional (COI), hizo uso de la palabra en nombre y representación de la presidenta de esa institución, Kirsty Coventry, resaltando lo importante que es para una organización deportiva lograr 100 años de éxitos y siendo una entidad puntera del olimpismo mundial.

El anfitrión, Luis Mejia Oviedo, miembro COI y presidente de Centro Caribe Sports, hizo una apología sobre la realización de los juegos en esta versión número veinte y cinco para entregar un reconocimiento al presidente Abinader por su elevada contribución a la realización en el país de los XXV Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe acompañado de los miembros del Comité Ejecutivo de Centro Caribe Sports.
Centro Caribe Sports reconoció a los pasados presidentes de esa organización, Steve Soute y José Joaquin Puello Herrera, de las manos de Juan

Antonio Samaranch y Tomas Bach, este último pasado presidente del Comité Olímpico Internacional.
La organización del evento, Centro Caribe Sports, no dejo ningún detalle al azar en los reconocimientos subiendo al escenario a los 10 países que han realizado hasta la fecha Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe y de esta manera recibieron México, Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador, Panamá, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia y Republica Dominicana. Para esta, varias personalidades hicieron entrega de la misma resaltando la alcaldesa

de Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejia y Neven Ilic, presidente de Pan Am Sports.
Acto seguido Centro Caribe Sports entrego el galardón de atleta del siglo a Alberto Juantorena el que fue recibido por el presidente del Comité Olímpico Cubano, Roberto León

Richards, acompañado de Javier Sotomayor y Mireya Luis, figuras cimeras del deporte caribeño a nivel mundial y olímpico; el presidente Abinader hizo la entrega.
Ya en la fase final del acto protocolar el licenciado Luis Mejia Oviedo informo de la entrega de dos medallas a cada país de Centro Caribe Sports, una femenina y otra masculina, para que sean entregadas a los atletas del siglo de cada nación respectiva.
Concluida la entrega de galardones se pasó a la parte musical con la destacada artista Adalgisa Pantaleon

para iniciar la cena en ambiente de regocijo en la celebración de estos 100 años de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.
Por la Federación Dominicana de Kurash (Fedokurash), estuvieron como invitados el señor Jaime Casanova Martínez, vicepresidente de la International Kurash Association (IKA), y la licenciada Fanny Mendoza en sus condiciones de secretario y tesorera, respectivamente.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.– Centro Caribe Sports (CCS) held its Centennial Gala, 1936-2026, at a prominent hotel in this city. Representatives from the 37 National Olympic Committees that comprise the regional organization attended, as well as national and international sports authorities. The evening was graced by the presence of President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona and his wife, Raquel Arbaje.

The country's leading sports authorities were present at the event, including the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz Cáceres; José Monegro, President of the Organizing Committee for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games; and the President of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldy Bautista, among others.

President Abinader arrived promptly and, after greeting attendees, posing for photos, and engaging in brief conversations with several people, the event began with the acclaimed presenter Natacha Peña hosting. Following this, a documentary, well-received by the audience, showcased the various editions of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Next, Sara Rosario, Secretary of Centro Caribe Sports, spoke on behalf of Centro Caribe Sports, formerly the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE),

highlighting the sporting history of this century-old organization.

Then, José Monegro, in his capacity as President of the Organizing Committee for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, to be held from July 24 to August 8, 2026, officially welcomed the participating delegations, dignitaries, and special guests to the country. Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), spoke on behalf of the IOC President, Kirsty Coventry, highlighting the significance for a sports organization of achieving 100 years of

success and being a leading entity in world Olympic sports.

The host, Luis Mejia Oviedo, IOC member and President of Centro Caribe Sports, spoke about the importance of hosting the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games and presented an award to President Abinader for his significant contribution to bringing the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games to the country. He was accompanied by members of the Centro Caribe Sports Executive Committee.

Centro Caribe Sports also recognized past presidents of the

organization, Steve Soute and José Joaquin Puello Herrera, with awards presented by Juan Antonio Samaranch and Thomas Bach, the latter a former President of the International Olympic Committee. The event organizers, Centro Caribe Sports, left no detail to chance in the awards ceremony, bringing to the stage the 10 countries that have hosted the Central American and Caribbean Games to date: Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, El Salvador, Panama, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. Several prominent figures participated in

the presentation, including the mayor of Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía.

Following this, Centro Caribe Sports presented the Athlete of the Century award to Alberto Juantorena, which was received by the president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, Roberto León Richards, accompanied by Javier Sotomayor and Mireya Luis, leading figures in Caribbean sports at the world and Olympic levels. President Abinader then presented the award.

In the final phase of the ceremony, Luis Mejía Oviedo announced the donation of two medals to each

participating country, one for women and one for men, to be awarded to the Athletes of the Century from their respective nations. Following the awards ceremony, the musical portion of the event began with a performance by the renowned artist Adalgisa Pantaleon, after which dinner commenced in a joyful atmosphere celebrating the 100th anniversary of Centro Caribe Sports.
